Guarding Gus major milestones update
Targets I’ve hit in the last 90 days:
1. Wrote ENTIRE book in 40 days-1st draft (was entire month of May, 1st 10 days of June)
2. Received feedback from Alpha readers
3. Sourced my cover artist (this took up most of June/into July)
4. Over 75% through 2nd draft (started 6/10, finishing 7/30)
5. Made a Patreon page! https://www.patreon.com/PromisePress
6. Gained 300 more followers across various social media
7. Changed the name of my book from The Bonsai Bodyguard to Guarding Gus
8. Watched as my mentor, whose indie publishing process I am following to the letter, had an explosive reception of both her 2nd and 3rd book, leading to her getting SIGNED to a major publishing house, Tor. And the guy who’s process SHE followed also got signed to Tor 8 months ago. HMMMM!

I don’t even recognize the person I was back in April. I’ve learned SO much since then; how to keep the rampant piracy sites from stealing your IP, how to farm out 3 chapters at a time to beta readers so they don’t get bogged down, when to list the ebook before the print book (spoiler! It’s 2 mos. beforehand!) release date.
All this is to say, if you want to get deeper updates such as cover reveals, chapter teasers, and early access to pre-orders, I suggest you get your butt over to www.promisepress.org and sign up for the newsletter. I already have 20 free items parked there, ready to go. Shoo.
And while you are at it, sign up for the Patreon. That’s going to help pay for the typography, the final cover payment, and a VERY cool thing called page edging!
